David Beckham has praised Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim following the Red Devils’ 2-1 victory over Crystal Palace

Sir David Beckham has heaped praise on Ruben Amorim and believes Manchester United are on the up following Sunday’s crucial 2-1 win at Crystal Palace.
United snapped a three-game winless streak by battling back to overcome Palace at Selhurst Park. Second-half strikes from Joshua Zirkzee and Mason Mount overturned Jean-Philippe Mateta’s early opener.
The result lifted the Red Devils back into the Premier League’s top half and up to seventh spot, sitting three points behind fourth-placed Aston Villa and four shy of Manchester City in second.
Following United’s win at Palace, Beckham – who was attending the Qatar Grand Prix alongside Gary Neville – told Sky Sports: “I think there are signs of the manager turning things around.

“He has tweaked a few things and we are coming into a few better results. There’s still a long way to go and there has been a few games where we haven’t been playing as well.
“But I think we’ve got a good manager there and I think he is changing things slowly.”
Last month, Beckham was approached to back a takeover bid for United, according to The Sun. A consortium from the United Arab Emirates asked ex-Reds midfielder Beckham to be an ambassador for the bid, with the Middle East firm said to be preparing to make an offer to buy the Glazers’ majority shareholding in the club.
Beckham has frequently criticised the Glazers, with the 50-year-old urging the Americans to sell in 2023 while acknowledging he would be receptive to future involvement with the club. Sir Jim Ratcliffe and Ineos took control of the club’s football operations in late 2023, following their acquisition of a 27.7 per cent stake.
In March, the Red Devils revealed plans to construct a new 100,000-capacity stadium alongside Old Trafford.
Meanwhile, Amorim appeared visibly relieved following United’s triumph at Palace. When questioned whether he had delivered any rousing words to spark a response from his squad at the interval as the Red Devils found themselves 1-0 down to Palace, Amorim replied: “No, we just wanted everyone to understand the game.
“I felt in the last 10 minutes of the first half that the opponent was struggling, and that they would struggle in the second half.
“We had that feeling. And we needed to do something to change the way we were playing.
“We tried to change little things in the game – the intensity and the quality in the way we connect, especially Josh [Zirkzee] – he improved a lot the way we played.”
