Everything Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor has lost in last two months – and one thing he hasn’t – The Mirror

Over the past two months, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor has been stripped of nearly all his royal titles, honours, and privileges in a historic move by King Charles III

Everything you need to know about what Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor has lost in last two months

  • Following new allegations surrounding his ties to Jeffrey Epstein, Andrew has been stripped of the style “His Royal Highness” and the princely title “Prince” in October, a move made official through letters patent. This means he can no longer use either in any public or formal capacity. It marks the most significant constitutional change to his status in modern royal history.
  • He has also lost the Duke of York title, which has been removed from the official Roll of the Peerage. This effectively ends his legal and public association with the dukedom. It also prevents the title from automatically passing to any heirs.
  • His subsidiary titles, Earl of Inverness and Baron Killyleagh, have been rescinded at the same time. These are the additional titles traditionally held by the Duke of York. Their removal completes the full dismantling of his peerage.
  • Andrew has been stripped of major honours including his positions in the Order of the Garter and the Royal Victorian Order. These were his highest ceremonial distinctions within the monarchy’s system of chivalry. Their loss symbolises a deliberate severing of formal royal ties.
  • He has also been ordered to surrender the lease on Royal Lodge, meaning he will no longer have the right to reside in the 30-room Windsor estate. This forms part of the wider withdrawal of his privileges and royal support. It represents the end of his long-standing occupation of one of the estate’s most significant properties.
  • However, Andrew still holds the title of vice-admiral of the Royal Navy. Defence chiefs are now under pressure to move faster in stripping Andrew of the final remaining title, after the King formally requested the removal of his rank.
