What happened to Shandon Floyd on Missing Dead or Alive?

Netflix’s true crime series Missing: Dead or Alive season 2 explores the disappearance of Shandon Floyd

WARNING: This article contains spoilers from Missing: Dead or Alive season 2 and details that some readers might find distressing

The second season of the Netflix series Missing: Dead or Alive? has recently been released worldwide, with viewers eagerly tuning in to the true crime show that first hit screens back in 2023. The programme follows a string of other popular true crime titles, such as My Father, the BTK Killer and The Perfect Neighbor, reports the Manchester Evening News.

The latest series landed with four gripping episodes for audiences to devour. Many have already binged the entire series, catapulting the show into Netflix’s top 10 globally.

This season delves into several new cases, with the spotlight on the mysterious disappearances of Morgan Duncan and Shandon Floyd. The officers from Richland County Sheriff’s Department Missing Persons Unit in Columbia, South Carolina are tasked with unravelling their fate.

Leading the Netflix show is officer Vicki Rains, who spearheads the investigations alongside her dedicated team. With over two decades of experience under her belt, Rains often collaborates with the homicide department to ensure no overlap with their ongoing open cases. Viewers are offered a glimpse into the police’s perspective, witnessing them interview witnesses, track down suspects, console grieving family members and scour properties for evidence.

The show’s high-end production, which gives the series a polished crime drama feel rather than a factual documentary series, has led some to question whether the show is indeed fake or scripted. However, the show is very much real and centred on actual people who have vanished and the desperate investigations to locate them before it’s too late.

Did they find Shandon Floyd in Missing: Dead or Alive?

Shandon went missing from a hotel after borrowing her friend’s car, a black Chrysler, which was at the heart of the investigation. Yes, Shandon was found, but tragically, the 29 year old was discovered dead in an abandoned vehicle. It came to light that the individuals who were in the car with Shandon had been driving around with her body for days following her death.

The police questioned a woman, who had been using Shandon’s bank card and was spotted exiting the car. Shandon’s cause of death was a drug overdose, after methamphetamine, fentanyl, cocaine and other substances were detected in her body during a post-mortem examination.

Rains was sceptical about the combination of drugs, stating that cocaine and meth didn’t usually mix and wanted to know if Shandon had taken the drugs voluntarily or not.

No charges could be brought against the individuals who had been driving around with Shandon’s body because it wasn’t a crime to abandon a corpse. Furthermore, the people who used her credit card couldn’t be charged as there wasn’t any way to prove that Shandon hadn’t given them permission to use it initially.

Rains was tasked with the gut-wrenching duty of informing Shandon’s family about her tragic demise. She could only watch as the family was left in utter shock and grief by the news.

The Netflix series also aired scenes from Shandon’s funeral, where her loved ones gathered to bid her a tearful farewell and pay their respects.

Did they find Morgan Duncan in Missing: Dead or Alive?

They did find Morgan Duncan, but sadly, he had passed away. His remains were discovered in a woodland area by a man on his way to work.

Morgan, a father of two, disappeared from his flat leaving behind his wallet, mobile phone and other essential items, hinting at a sinister turn of events.

This led the police to speculate that he was hiding from someone when the 27 year old vanished from his residence. At the time of his disappearance, Morgan was battling schizophrenia and had crucially left without his medication, causing great concern among his family and friends.

Morgan had been missing for several months before his lifeless body was found.

Witnesses told the police that Morgan was murdered by Eric Greene over a disagreement regarding unpaid drug money. Greene, a local drug dealer, was found guilty of Morgan’s murder and sentenced to 57 years behind bars.

Despite denying the charges and refusing to testify in court, Greene did make a statement prior to his sentencing.

According to WIS 10, Greene told the court: “I told my lawyers, I’m like, ‘I want to testify.’ They told me it wouldn’t be a good idea. But now I’m glad that I get to at least speak my peace because I did not do nothing wrong.”

Greene is currently serving his sentence at the South Carolina Department of Corrections.
