Loose Women took an awkward turn on Monday’s show during Jeff Brazier’s competition segment
Loose Women fans were quick to slam Jeff Brazier on Monday’s show after he appeared to scold Ruth Langsford live on air.
During the latest episode, Jeff, 46, had complimented Ruth’s, 65, blouse to which she reacted to the sweet gesture, as well as the ITV studio.
However, Jeff was quick to point out they were eating into his competition segment time as he asked them to quickly move on and at the end of the segment, he told Ruth off, saying that next time he compliments her, she has to move on quickly.
At the start of his competition segment, Jeff had complimented Ruth’s “wonderful” burgundy blouse, saying: “You look really gorgeous today!” to which Ruth responded: “Thank you” while her panellists and the live studio audience reacted.
However, Jeff quickly snapped: “I’m doing my comp bit, guys, let me carry on!” and at the end of the segment, he said: “I’m really sorry, Ruth, when I give compliments, I don’t want it to eat into my competition time.
“So next time, if I say a nice compliment, don’t say anything back just say ‘Cheers Jeff!’ and that’ll do me.”
Ruth seemed taken aback by the demand to which she responded: “Listen, whatever! Your wish is my command Jeffrey! Thank you very much!” before awkwardly smiling.
Taking to Twitter, now X, one person said: “Jeff , who’s rattled your cage. Not very professional! #LooseWomen” while a different account added: “Well that was an awkward moment Jeff #LooseWomen.”
Another put: “Um.. slightly awkward moment on #LooseWomen today thanks to Jeff Brazier telling Ruth Langsford off for *checks notes* replying incorrectly to a compliment. Is he okay?”
It comes as Jeff confirmed his marriage split to wife Kate Dwyer last week after much speculation. The presenter shared a heartfelt lengthy post on Instagram, confirming they had separated over the summer after marrying in 2018.
Posting a picture together, the father of Freddy and Bobby Brazier, penned: “I’m so full of love and gratitude for Kate. For all we achieved, for how much we grew, for everything we endured. We separated in the Summer and kept it private for as long as we could to give us some time to adjust.
“For 12 years we have been each others safe space, each others biggest supporters at a time when our lives have been busy, painful & complex.
“Im so proud of how hard we worked, how we kept showing up, we gave everything and more. Im also so full of respect and admiration for the successful career Kate has built and the way she cared for me unconditionally.
“It’s credit to the woman she is that she still checks in to ask how the boys are doing because she is so invested in their lives. They love her and I have many friends that love her too. I will miss her family who always went above and beyond to support us.
“My words don’t tell the full picture because they don’t need to. We will carry on supporting each other and I know I’ll be celebrating her inevitable wins just like before. We both deserve complete happiness and we’re upset that we ultimately couldn’t be that for one another and It felt time to let it go” followed by a heart emoji.
