As part of a software upgrade, WhatsApp will no longer support several iPhone models once used by millions of people.

Although the affected models are older there are still a small percentage of people using them today.

At the moment, any iPhone that has iOS 12 or newer can use WhatsApp.

But from May 5 it’s all about to change.

The oldest of the bunch, the iPhone 5s, was released way back in 2013.

“Devices and software change often, so we regularly review what operating systems we support and make updates,” WhatsApp says.
