Moment woman smashes neighbour over the head with a spade as three-year-long dispute boils over

A woman who smashed her neighbour over the head with a spade in the culmination of a furious three-year dispute has been jailed.

Catherine Lloyd, 44, had been embroiled a bitter war against her neighbour for around three years when she launched her savage attack.

CCTV footage captured the moment the 44-year-old, armed with a garden spade, battered the man during an argument in an alleyway near their homes in Peterborough, Cambridgeshire.

The victim, a man in his 20s, was left with a cut to his head and was taken to hospital for treatment after the attack at around 9.30pm on May 14, 2023.

Video shows Lloyd walking towards him with her spade over her shoulder.

She then raises it and smashes it down onto her neighbour’s head as he attempts to fight back.

Lloyd, of no known address, admitted grievous bodily harm without intent.

She appeared at Peterborough Crown Court on Thursday, July 31, where she was jailed for ten months.

DC Lloyd Davis said: ‘Catherine Lloyd’s behaviour in this case was completely unacceptable.

‘Irrespective of any ongoing dispute, violence like this is not the answer.

‘I’m pleased the victim can now move on.’
