AngryGinge’s mum and sister have revealed the baffling truth behind the I’m A Celebrity star’s nickname in their first ever TV interview on Lorraine on Monday.
The pair appeared on the latest episode of the ITV show to chat to host Lorraine Kelly, 66, about the Twitch streamer’s stint in the iconic jungle.
His mum Michelle and sister Tasha spilled the beans on their thoughts about him on the programme, as well as what he’s really like as a person.
Lorraine pointed out: ‘He’s doing very, very well.
‘We’re calling him Ginge now, because he’s not AngryGinge… that’s what was he called first of all.
‘He’s not at all, he’s not at all… You must be very proud of him.’

Michelle explained: ‘So, so proud of him. And he isn’t angry, that’s the name he came up with quite a few years back when he used to sulk when he lost a football match on FIFA.
‘But now, he’s not angry. He’s the most caring, kind person you could meet!’
Lorraine was interested to know who they thought he is bonding with, to which Michelle said: ‘Yeah him and Aitch banter off each other and they know each other’s humour, so they’ve got on really, really well.
‘I think the same with Ruby as well, even though she’s older, she gets Ginge’s banter.’
The YouTuber has an extremely close bond with his family – and it has been very clear on the show over the past few weeks.
It comes after AngryGinge paid an emotional tribute to his mum who ‘worked three jobs on a council estate’ – and insisted that ‘she’s the reason he keeps going’ as he found a surprising common ground with campmate Alex Scott during Thursday’s episode.
The latest instalment of the ITV show saw the YouTuber, 24, open about how he got into streaming with the football pundit, 41.
AngryGinge – real name Morgan Sam Lee Burtwistle – admitted that he knew he was ‘good at it’ and explained: ‘Hard work beats talent when talent doesn’t work hard.’
Alex went on to explain how she felt as if she ‘wasn’t supposed to make it’ and play for England, but knew if she ‘outworked everyone’, she could do it.
This then spurred AngryGinge to point out how he had a very similar upbringing to Alex, as they were both brought up on working class council estates.
The social media star grew up on a council estate in the town of Eccles, Manchester, while Alex lived her childhood on one in East London.

‘We’ve got no problems getting our hands stuck in, because that’s what we’ve had to do from being little to where we are now,’ AngryGinge told Alex.
This led the young star to open up about his mother Michelle, who brought him up as a single mum.
Explaining where he has got his motivation from, he told Alex that he would see her work endlessly throughout the day to make sure that he was looked after.
He explained that she’d finish her first job, and then ‘she’d go and finish that and then go to her second job then go to her third job and then get home.’
AngryGinge said: ‘If she can do it then I can do this in the jungle, so that’s what keeps me going really.’
During his time in the Australian jungle, the gamer has shown how much his family mean to him.
Earlier this week AngryGinge got visibly upset after looking at a framed picture of his loved ones.
He said in the Bush Telegraph: ‘It’s a bit of a s**t day really, I just feel as though I’m missing home, missing speaking to my family, food and drink as well is a massive part but they say you have up days and down days…’

Clearly getting very upset about missing his family, he added: ‘I’m holding it in.
‘I suppose it’s just one of my down days…’
On Wednesday it was revealed that AngryGinge’s mum broke down in tears after watching him sob on I’m A Celebrity.
Ahead of arriving in Australia alongside the other celebs’ loved ones, the star’s mum Michelle described her reaction to the emotional scenes.
She told the Daily Mail: ‘I haven’t managed to watch the full episode yet as I’ve been travelling, but I saw a clip on TikTok.
‘My heart absolutely sank, I started crying.
‘It was so hard to see, because I know Morgan is such a strong person, so he must have been struggling a lot.
‘I just can’t wait to give him the biggest hug on that bridge.’
Elsewhere in the episode AngryGinge was left fuming after he’s ‘sabotaged’ in a trial as he went head to head with rapper Aitch.
It all went wrong for AngryGinge when Aitch found the sabotage button first and turned off the lights in his competitor’s compartment.
Raging at what had happened, he shouted: ‘There is no way he was beaten me again! My hand was already in there!’
Calming himself down, he goes on to reassure himself: ‘Ah, mate, just stay calm.’
