A balding teenager has won over an army of new admirers after an ‘amazing’ transformation left him unrecognisable.
Harry, 19, had been at an appointment at a salon in North East England when his barber suggested he try something a little different to help with his hair loss.
After suffering with thinning hair since the age of 13, Harry was open to testing new options and gave the expert free reign to work his magic.
A video of the transformation shows hairdresser Rob Wood, owner of Novo Cabelo salons in Durham, talking to Harry about what hairstyles might suit him before getting to work.
He explained he had decided on something ‘really easy that can be styled in the day and shown off at night’.
The clip then shows Harry’s head being shaved ahead of the big reveal.
The teenager is visibly shocked when, after removing a blindfold, he looks in the mirror and sees a man with luscious blonde locks staring back at him.
‘I absolutely love it’, he says.
Mr Wood achieved the new look by chopping and shaving his way into Harry’s hair, before carefully selecting real human hair to match the colour, texture and style.
Also known as Mr Cabelo, the specialist barber is known for his use of hair systems – a hair replacement system, also known as hairpiece, toupee, or wig, which is attached to the scalp with adhesives, clips, or weaving.
According to Mr Wood, the hair system can last between four to six months, but requires refitting every three to four weeks.
Users of TikTok rushed in to share their thoughts and praise after the video was uploaded to the popular social media platform.
One person wrote: ‘He looks fantastic, god bless him so young, he deserves his new hair what a transformation.’
A second added, ‘Great job . Looks fabulous,’ while a third said, ‘Bless his heart, he looked so pleased….he was welling up…..looks amazing ….fabulous.’
So far the video has racked up more than 60,000 likes and 955 comments.
Speaking of his story, Mr Wood told MailOnline: ‘It all started 10 years ago. Where one of the girls who worked for me, her brother in law was really struggling with his mental health related to his hair loss.
‘So, I did a bit of YouTubing and research to see what was actually out there, and what we could do and that’s when I found the hair systems.’
After testing the hair system out on his colleague’s brother-in-law. Rob decided to open Novo Cabelo and specialise in treating hair loss for everyone.
