A medieval castle that was once home to the Queen of Scotland is on the market for £1m.
Six miles west of Perth city centre, the former royal abode is complete with an escape tunnel and is set over four floors, including its own separate cottage.
The historic building was given to Margaret Tudor, wife of King James IV, in 1503 as part of her marriage gift and was where she died in 1541.
Methven castle dates to 1664 in its current form and has been owned by only 11 families, having undergone several major restoration projects over the years.
It is now a modern, six-bedroom home with period charm that holds a former icehouse, a summerhouse and an escape tunnel within its 1.1 acres of land.
The ground floor comprises a library, an office, a hall, a boot room and a utility room.
On the first floor is a main living area, a drawing room, a kitchen and dining room, a double bedroom and a bathroom.
The second floor has a great hall and two double bedrooms while the top floor features a gallery and two double bedrooms.
It also contains a turrets house, a wine cellar, a walk-in wardrobe and a games room.
Despite the modern re-vamp, images show how the home has managed to retain much of its traditional character.
A coat of arms hangs above the worn stone stairs while portraits are also on display.
The cottage adjacent to the castle includes a living room, a dining room, a kitchen and a bedroom.
The property is being marketed by Rettie for offers over £1,050,000.

Margaret Tudor was Queen of Scotland from 1503 until 1513 by marriage to King James IV.
Margaret married James IV at the age of 13 and they had six children together.
She died at Methven Castle on October 18 1541 where it was reported she had palsy – resulting possibly from a stroke.
