Late disgraced TV star Rolf Harris‘ riverside mansion in England has been listed on the market for £4million ($AU8.3million), almost two years after his death.
The property, which is located in the riverside village of Bray, Berkshire, was Harris’ final residence until he died from neck cancer in May 2023 at the age of 93. The mansion was modelled on his childhood home along Perth‘s Swan River.
Harris’ daughter Bindi was recently spotted clearing out the estate, signalling her intent to sell while awaiting a favourable offer.
And she is not the only one in the family set to recieve a nice lump sum.
It was recently revealed that Harris’ niece Jennifer will be handed a £1.2million payday after liquidators gave notice that Harris’ firm will be officially closed on 25 July.
The late paedophile set up RHE Investments to handle a substantial part of his multi-million fortune in 2012.
The wind up process to dissolve the company began five months after he died, with a final report filed on April 25 revealing Jennifer will receive a huge sum after paying liquidator and accountant fees of £9,000. The company was also due a refund for £127,474 from HMRC.
Jennifer, who is the director of Harris’ two companies, stood by him when he faced indecent assault charges and attended numerous court hearings in the years before his death.
A source close to the family told The Mirror, ‘Bindi was seen emptying the property about a month ago.
‘She wants to sell it, but doesn’t desperately need the money and is in no rush, so she’s determined to hold out for a good price.’
In 2017, the neighbours of the convicted paedophile were reported to be putting their multimillion pound riverside homes up for sale after Harris returned home from prison.
This came after the area’s former mayor said he did not think the former presenter would be welcome.
Three multi-million pound properties were put up for sale.
A source told the Daily Star Sunday at the time: ‘The owners are in their 40s and have a family, so there’s no surprise in the community that they have decided to sell up and move.
‘Harris isn’t seen out and about a lot, but for parents his dubious past is enough of a reason for them to want to leave.’
A year before, Harris’ riverside home was pictured receiving a makeover from builders as thousands of pounds were spent renovating the mansion in preparation for his return from prison.
Workmen were seen replacing a large patio and the Berkshire home’s drive was also dug up and the back garden was revamped.
In May 2023, an undertaker’s private ambulance was photographed outside his home after Harris died aged 93 there on May 10.
The former children’s entertainer was jailed in July 2014 for five years and nine months after being found guilty of a dozen indecent assaults against four young girls.
His crimes took place between 1968 and 1986, and some of these assaults occurred inside his Berkshire home.
In one instance it was reported that Harris sexually assaulted one of his daughter’s friends who was between the ages of 13 and 19.
He was said to have performed a sex act on her while his daughter slept in another room at the family home.
Harris rose to fame in his early 20’s when he moved to England, became an art student and found work in television at the BBC, performing a regular ten-minute cartoon drawing section in a children’s show – Jigsaw.
He went on to illustrate Harbin’s Paper Magic program in 1956 and quickly became a regular on other BBC television shows.
Harris moved back to Australia in 1959 and tried his hand as an actor, before inventing the wobbleboard – and used it in his song ‘Tie Me Kangaroo Down, Sport’.
