Inside Dua Lipa’s grueling diet and fitness regime after showcasing her enviable physique

Pop singer Dua Lipa has gained a reputation for always being on vacation – and looking amazing while she’s there.

The Houdini singer, who was recently in Rio de Janeiro for her Radical Optimism world tour, often shares snaps to social media looking glamorous in itty-bitty dresses and barely-there bikinis.

Last week, the 30-year-old shared a new series of pictures to Instagram to commemorate her time in Brazil, which included her wearing a purple sequined two-piece swimsuit, which showed off her bronzed skin and toned abs.

Fans took to social media to share their thoughts on the singer’s body – and asked her to pass on her workout routine.

‘Oh my god Dua Lipa, THESE ABS?!’ one fan wrote incredulously.

‘Pass the Dua Lipa abs workout,’ agreed another.

‘No words, just Dua Lipa,’ declared another, alongside a video of Lipa performing on stage.

Someone else simply labeling Lipa, ‘the Queen of vacation!’

Lipa has spoken in the past about her workout routine and the effort that goes into maintaining her enviable figure.

While she is often seen flaunting her physique, a lot of work goes into keeping the star bikini-ready, which includes HIIT workouts, strength training and of course, the singer’s favorite workout: reformer Pilates.

Below, the Daily Mail takes a look at the Grammy Award winner’s grueling exercise routine and diet.

Dua Lipa loves reformer Pilates

Lipa, who performs vigorous routines on stage when performing, has spoken at length about her love of reformer Pilates – and how it has helped her tone up as well as prepare for spending hours on stage.

In September, Lipa launched a new fitness venture, joining at-home Pilates studio Frame Reformer as a co-founder and chief creative officer.

The hitmaker, who has a reformer machine at home, gushed over the fitness classes.

‘I’m in heels all the time, so my core is incredibly important,’ she told Vogue earlier in the year.

Lipa added that having the machine at home means she will regularly take classes on it and can feel the difference it makes to her body.

‘I love that I see such instant results [from the workout],’ she told Vogue. ‘It’s like some of the best forms of strength training for me.’

She loves to sweat it out in HIIT session or boxing

Lipa has spoken in the past about how she manages to fit her workouts in around her busy schedule, which includes an early morning workout.

In 2017, she told Vogue she loves a High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) workout, because ‘it’s so quick, it’s over before it’s even started!’

This includes jumping jacks, mountain climbers, and burpees. She will usually do the exercises for between 20 to 45 seconds, then have a 10 to 15 second break.

In addition to HIIT workouts, the Levitating singer also loves to sweat it out by boxing.

She previously told Beauty Crew it keeps her fit and helps lower her stress levels.

‘I like doing it for fitness [and] I like doing it just to kinda clear my mind,’ the hitmaker explained.

‘Since starting boxing I’ve probably been in the best shape ever. It’s also a great stress reliever.’

According to Peter MacIver, who previously trained her, she also undergoes cardio and resistance training three to four times a week, which includes hill sprints and a full-body strength workout.

The singer loves to work her core

As noted by her incredible physique, the singer is not afraid of working hard – particularly when it comes to her core.

According to Women’s Health Magazine, Lipa’s ab workout includes exercises like bicycle crunches and leg raises, as well as a variation of crunches.

‘Planks are good,’ she said. ‘Although almost certainly my least favorite.’

Earlier in the year, Lipa spoke to Vogue about the importance of core strength and how it helps her while performing on stage and helps to prevent injury.

‘You’ve got to have a really strong core because if you have a strong core, then you’ve got a strong lower back, and so therefore that really helps when you’re dancing and you’re up on your feet for a very long time,’ she said.

Lipa rests properly

The Grammy-award-winning singer and songwriter loves an intense workout – but also knows it’s important to rest.

In 2021, Lipa spoke with Refinery 29, sharing her wellness routine amid her busy lifestyle.

The singer said she always makes sure to ‘pamper’ her vocal cords by steaming, drinking tea, and staying hydrated.

She also noted she makes sure to get enough sleep and practices yoga as a form of mindfulness.

Lipa’s daily yoga practice also helps her overall fitness and performance capabilities, which Sole Fitness noted earlier in the year.

‘The mindfulness aspect helps manage performance anxiety and the pressures of celebrity life, while creating space for creativity and mental clarity,’ it wrote.

She eats a low-carb diet

Last year, the singer revealed she eats a low-carb diet, which she said gives her enough stamina to power through hours of physical work on stage.

The star was speaking on a British podcast when she said her nutrition plan for touring mostly consists of steak with vegetables.

Her nutrition team prioritizes protein, meaning breakfasts typically include eggs and fruit – and no bread.

The hitmaker also shared her favorite post-cardio snack, which is a banana with cashew butter.

In 2022, the Health Yogi, shared a snippet of her diet, which included healthy, whole foods.

Examples of this are eggs or fruit for breakfast, a chicken salad with vegetables and a cold juice for lunch and fresh vegetables and salad with fish for dinner.
