Netflix fans have begged for more episodes of an ‘excellent’ crime thriller that stormed the charts after binge-watching every episode.
The Nordic series, The Åre Murders is based on Viveca Sten’s books that have been a success across the globe, selling more than 10million copies.
It launched on the popular streaming platform last month scored 11million views in the very first week, according to Metro.
Starring Charlie Gustafsson, Kardo Razzazi and Carla Sehn, the five-episode Swedish drama delves into the disappearance of Amanda, a young woman who went missing near ski resort town Åre.
Stockholm detective Hanna Ahlander is in the area at the time trying to relax while she is under internal investigation but soon finds herself caught up with the case and works with local officers to help.
The Åre Murders has proved to be popular amongst viewers and many have taken to social media to share their verdicts.



One penned on X: ‘All I know is that I need season 2 of #TheÅreMurders ASAP.’
A second said: ‘Come on #Netflix, let’s be having more of #TheÅreMurders’
Someone else commented: ‘#TheÅreMurders on @netflix is one of the best I have seen so far in 2025. It had me on the edge of my seat.’
Another penned: ‘Just finished the series: short, but finished just where it needed to. Still has open space for more episodes if needed. Quite good, I liked it.’

The Åre Murders also has an impressive 83% score on Rotten Tomatoes and many fans left their verdicts on the review site.
One wrote: ‘Loved it….great mysteries and characters, plus some good action sequences.’









Another said: Excellent show! Great characters, interesting situations, stories keep you guessing .. but why only 5 episodes? Bizarre and frustrating. Hope for more.’
However, not everyone has been impressed with the drama and one commented: ‘Totally boring plot and acting.’
Someone else added: ‘The plot was incredibly basic. I felt like I missed something, because it didn’t feel like a story at all.’
