Woman in her 40s is found dead inside home in quiet seaside town – as police arrest man in his 20s on suspicion of murder

A woman in her 40s has been found dead at an Essex home, with a man in his 20s arrested on suspicion of murder. 

Police officers were called to a home in Skelmersdale Road, Clacton, at 11.30am this morning after concerns were raised for the welfare of the woman. 

Officers in the Essex town arrived within five minutes along with ambulance crews but were unable to save the woman in her 40s, who died at the scene. 

A man in his 20s, who was transported to hospital suffering from serious injuries, has been arrested on suspicion of murder.

Essex Police said enquiries are continuing at a pace, with detectives from the force’s Serious Crime Directorate leading an investigation. 

Detective Chief Constable Rob Huddlestone said: ‘Our thoughts are with the loved ones of the woman who sadly died.

‘We know how concerning this incident will be to the local community and I can assure you that we are working diligently to understand exactly what happened.

Police are also appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the incident to come forward and speak to them

‘Our officers were on the scene within 5 mins of the call coming into to us and worked with our colleagues from the ambulance service to try and help the woman.

‘We will be in the area in the coming days. Please come and speak to us if you have any concerns or information.’
