50 Cent shuts down Netflix Diddy documentary critics with a three-word answer

50 Cent said “it’s not personal” when questioned by critics about his involvement in a new Netflix documentary exploring convicted offender and long-term nemesis Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs’

50 Cent has responded to questions about his involvement in a new Netflix docuseries about his long-term nemesis Sean Diddy Combs. Coming to Netflix on December 2, Sean Combs:The Reckoning, is a four-part documentary that will delve into Diddy’s life as a media mogul and now convicted offender.

Sean Combs was found guilty on two charges of transportation of former girlfriends for prostitution, but was acquitted of the more serious charges of racketeering and sex trafficking in July in an almost two-month long trial in New York. Since the announcement of the deep dive documentary, the attention has been put on the executive producer – who is none other than Curtis ’50 Cent’ Jackson.

Speaking on Good Morning America on Monday 1st December, Jackson addressed claims that his motivation for making the docuseries was rooting in “disdain” for Combs, rather than giving the music mogul’s alleged victims a platform. “What they consider pre-existing beef – for 20 years – is me being uncomfortable with him suggesting that he takes me shopping,” Curtis said.

“I looked at it like it was a tester, like maybe you’ll come play with me type thing. It’s not personal.”

Director of the series, Alexandria Stapleton, added: “I think it’s important to also let people know, this show isn’t completely the perspective of people who didn’t like Sean. We weren’t just trying to get the highlights, the salacious details. The real goal was to storytell, and not everyone needed to have an allegation to be a part of this project.”

The project is set to feature two jurors from Combs’ trial, who will discuss how they arrived at their mixed verdict, for the first time.

50 Cent has been extremely vocal about Diddy’s trial, before, during and after – which came from a feud that started way back in 2006. 50 Cent released his 2006 diss track, “The Bomb,” in which he accused Combs of being involved in the 1997 murder of the Notorious B.I.G, despite Combs denying the accusations.

In the years since, the two have gone back and forth with each other, with drama building up, and now fans are calling 50 Cent’s latest move a ‘popcorn moment’.

One person quipped on social media: “50 Cent producing a Diddy documentary is the most ‘grab your popcorn’ energy I’ve seen all year. The title ‘The Reckoning’ already told me peace won’t be present. 50 Cent is not letting 2025 end quietly.”

A second said: “50 cent gotta go down as the greatest hater of the century I don’t think it’s possible for someone to take that title from him he’s dedicated to his craft on a different level,” and a third added: “Of course 50 cent is producing it. Of course. Nobody holds a grudge for as long as that man does.”
