ITV’s new game show 99 To Beat, hosted by former soap stars, Coronation Street‘s Ryan and Emmerdale’s Adam Thomas, has already proven to be as chaotic as promised – and not without its fair share of drama. During the high-energy filming of the series, one contestant was rushed to hospital after suffering a shock injury on set.
The game show, which pits 100 contestants against each other in bizarre and unpredictable challenges, saw tensions rise as competitors battled to avoid elimination. However, in a dramatic turn of events, one player’s celebration quickly turned into disaster. Host Ryan revealed that the unfortunate contestant twisted her ankle while celebrating a victory.

“Yeah, one girl twisted her ankle just while celebrating,” Ryan explained. “It was so unfortunate because it took her out of the competition, and she must have been devastated. But freak accidents happen in life, and it is such a shame – the show must go on.”
The injury meant that the contestant had to withdraw from the competition and receive immediate medical attention. With high-energy games such as catching a potato on a fork, defrosting frozen T-shirts, and dodging falling yoga balls, 99 To Beat is proving to be a thrilling – if slightly hazardous – addition to ITV ’s prime-time lineup.
Despite the unexpected injury, the brothers say the games are easy for anyone to do. “The beauty of this game is that anyone can play it – whether you’re an 18-year-old guy or an 80-year-old woman,” Ryan says.

The brothers, known for their lighthearted banter and competitive spirit, have embraced their new roles as game show hosts, bringing their natural chemistry and humour to the screen, rivalling host legends Ant and Dec.
As the competition heats up and contestants are gradually eliminated, viewers can expect more unpredictable moments, shocking twists, and, hopefully, fewer accidents. The eight-part series, which offers a grand prize of £25,000, Adam and Ryan ensures it will entertain audiences with its unique and hilarious challenges. “It’s like a squid game vibe.”
Fans of the Thomas brothers and game show lovers alike can tune in to see who will outlast the competition – and who might just be the next to take an unexpected tumble.
99 To Beat starts on Saturday 22 March at 6pm on ITV1
