I’m A Celebrity winner Danny Jones is said to be being comforted by his former McFly bandmate following the controversy surrounding his kiss with Maura Higgins earlier this month.
The pair have been at the garnered attention after Danny – who is married to Georgia Horsley and shares one son, Cooper Alf Jones – kissed the Love Island star at the Brit Awards. Before attending the awards, Danny, 39, and Maura, 34, had gotten to know each other after appearing together on I’m A Celebrity back in November, with him emerging as the winner.
It comes amid the music star’s recent social media post where he issued a grovelling apology to his wife. Now, it seems the McFly star is keeping a low profile and staying out of the drama as he spends time with his close friend and bandmate, Dougie Poynter. The two have been in each other’s company more frequently, often hanging out at Dougie’s London home, and bike rides around the city, according to a report.
A source told The Sun: “The pair have been inseparable and Dougie has been a metaphorical shoulder to cry and helping Danny to work through the fallout of the past few weeks, it’s been really tough.

“Dougie has known Danny for decades and knows how to keep his spirits up in low moments” they added: Cycling together and getting outside has been good for them and helping to keep busy. Continuing their statement read: “The McFly boys are all really close, but unlike his other bandmates Dougie isn’t tied up with childcare so can lend Danny an ear during his hour of need.”
Just days after a leaked video showed the pair kissing at the Brits venue, Danny admitted he hasn’t spoken out about the issue because he wants to handle it privately with his wife, Georgia, following his public apology on Instagram. He penned: “Hello everyone, sorry it’s taken me a while to post this but I’ve taken some time out to be with those closest to me.
“I want to deeply apologise to my wife and family for putting them in this situation. I love them so much and we’ll continue to deal with this privately. I love you guys, thank you for your patience, understanding, and support.”
Reports have since emerged that the singer and his wife have been working through the situation privately. However, sources close to the star suggest that Danny is not completely out of the woods yet. The source said: “While they are together and are under the same roof, he certainly isn’t out of the woods yet.”
Meanwhile, it has been said that Danny has been feeling the weight of the situation and the impact it’s had on his family. Despite the public fallout, the star is trying to make things right and moving forward with his loved ones.
“He has been mortified about what’s happened and the awful situation he has put everyone in. He cares so deeply about his family and hopes his words will draw a line under what has been a deeply upsetting time for everyone. Georgia and his son are absolutely everything to him” a source said.
