Debenhams shoppers are taking advantage of an online deal that’s perfect for anyone who likes to read or watch TV with added comfort and support. Some people have even been putting the “warm and gentle” item away to give as a practical Christmas present.
The OHS Teddy Fleece Bed Reading Cushion has been discounted from £28.99 to £19.99 during a major online sale. The discount gives shoppers nearly a third off (31%) this “perfect companion” for reading, watching TV or “enhancing your work-from-home experience”.
It comes in seven different colour options – including grey, charcoal, cream, pink, navy, neutral and black. The Debenhams description reads: “Complete with its generous filling and clever design, this cushion provides excellent support, promoting a more upright position and relieving stress on your back and shoulders.

“This cushion pillow is not limited to just your bed, and is also a great fit for most standard chairs, making it a versatile addition to your home. The cosy teddy fabric cover creates a warm and gentle feeling, as though you’re being gently hugged while you relax.”
There are similar cushions out there, such as the Teddy Bear Cuddle Cushion from Dunelm (reduced to £10 from £25). Alternatively, shoppers could try this Cuddle Cushion with Detachable Neck Roll and Higher Support Arm from Amazon (was £25.99, now £22.09 in Black Friday sale).
However, lots of shoppers heaped praise on the Debenhams item, which can be delivered in five working days (offering shoppers plenty of time to get items in time for Christmas). It has an overall rating of 3.9 stars out of five, based on 55 customer reviews.
One said: “Stuffed really full! Provides excellent support in bed or on the sofa. A lovely, warm and comfortable item.” Another wrote: “Perfect for my wife, who has fibromyalgia. It helps her be more comfortable in bed.”
A third put in their review: “Bought for my 83-year-old mum who has dementia. Every time I went to visit her, she was sitting lopsided. This has made a huge difference.”
Someone else shared: “I’d wanted one of these for ages and wasn’t disappointed. Perfect for reading in bed.” And one more said: “I bought it because I work from home and often work from my bed. It is soft and cosy.”
However, a handful of people had issues, including one who said: “This was so poor in quality, I just threw it in the bin. Very disappointed – the material was so thin and the stuffing was virtually flat when you leaned against it.”
Another put: “The cover is not removable or washable as stated in the description. No support as it has very little filling, therefore it is not plump nor sits upright.” A third mentioned: “Cannot take the cover off for washing – a serious design flaw.”
Despite this, the majority of reviewers were positive. One said: “Bought for my mother to use on her rise and recliner chair. She loves it – it makes it more comfortable for her to sit in her chair for long periods of time. Have tried lots of other cushions but this is the best.”
