Freakier Friday fans are convinced the long-awaited sequel sees Lindsay Lohan reunite with one of her co-stars from The Parent Trap.
Lindsay, 38, is teaming up once again with her Freaky Friday on-screen mother Jamie Lee Curtis to reprise their roles from the 2003 Disney movie, which followed the mother-daughter duo who switch bodies after unknowingly eating magical fortune cookies.
A sequel to the hit movie has been rumoured for some time, and last year, Lindsay and Jamie took to the stage at D23 to announce the sequel was in the works. Filming finished in August, and on Friday, a brand new trailer for the movie was released, prompting a huge reaction from fans on social media.

The trailer shows Lindsay’s character Anna, who is now grown up and has her own daughter, as well as a soon-to-be step-daughter. The upcoming new movie shows “lightning might indeed strike twice”, and shows a four-way body swap as Anna not only switches bodies again with her mother Tess (played by Jamie Lee), they also switch with Anna’s daughter and step-daughter.
“Years after Tess and Anna endured an identity crisis, Anna now has a daughter and a soon-to-be stepdaughter. As they navigate the challenges that come when two families merge, Tess and Anna discover that lightning might strike twice,” the official tagline for the upcoming movie states.

While the trailer shows Chad Michael Murray back onboard to reprise his role in Freakier Friday, eagle-eyed fans also spotted that Elaine Hendrix also appears in the sequel. The 54-year-old actress played Lindsay’s soon-to-be stepmother Meredith in the iconic Disney movie, which was released in 1998. “Another surprise reunion? THE PARENT TRAP’s Elaine Hendrix has reportedly joined the cast of FREAKIER FRIDAY!” one fan tweeted.
“Another iconic reunion! Elaine Hendrix in Freakier Friday is a perfect match! Can’t wait to see her bring that magic back to the screen!” another replied, while one hoped that Elaine would be playing a role similar to Meredith, who vowed to send her stepdaughter to boarding school once she’d married her father, played by Dennis Quaid. “Is she going to ship Anna’s ‘brats off to Switzerland’ if they misbehave, or is she nice this time?” they quipped.
Freaky Friday was a remake of the 1976 Disney movie, which starred Oscar-winning actress Jodie Foster and Barbara Harris, and some diehard fans wanted another cameo in the upcoming sequel. “The ONLY cameo I want to see is Jodie Foster….the OG Freaky Friday GOAT,” one tweeted.
Freakier Friday will be released in August
