On Tuesday’s instalment of Good Morning Britain, Richard Madeley found himself playfully reprimanded by co-host Susanna Reid. The ITV audience tuned in to see the duo chatting with BBC radio star Jamie Laing.
Jamie, known for his stint on reality TV, is currently embarking on an epic endeavour to collect funds for Comic Relief. He’s set out on a daunting 150-mile run from London to Salford, which he kicked off on Monday morning.
In conversation with the 36-year-old as he prepared for day two of his journey, he revealed to Richard and Susanna that he was experiencing some discomfort in his bottom.
An intrigued Susanna asked: “Jamie, why is it affecting your bottom?” To which he responded: “I don’t know. Honestly, guys, my bum hurts so much! It’s a new pain that I’ve never felt before.”

Despite the discomfort, Jamie assured the ITV hosts that his spirits remained lifted. Yet, Susanna couldn’t help but wonder if his shorts were causing chafing issues, reports the Manchester Evening News.
Jamie clarified: “No, it’s not the chafing of the shorts. The chafing is in other places, which aren’t so good. But Vaseline does wonders! I think Vaseline is the greatest invention after the telephone! I think it’s unbelievable.”
Richard, curious about the specifics of Jamie’s discomfort, inquired whether it was muscle pain. Jamie then pinpointed the source of his agony to his left buttock.

Having a bit of a laugh about his painful predicament, Jamie quipped: “I think someone has climbed into my room at night and put something in my bottom! Honestly, I don’t know what’s going on, it’s really sore, it’s hurting so much. But I think it’s probably because I did over 50 kilometres of running yesterday.”
Richard couldn’t resist probing further, asking: “Have you ever had this problem with your bottom before?” But Susanna quickly put a halt to the bum-themed banter, saying firmly: “Right, that’s enough, that’s enough, Richard. Honestly, right let’s move on.”
They moved swiftly along to discuss the genuine reason for Jamie’s exertion. Speaking to the ITV hosts, Jamie shared his personal motivation for undertaking such a gruelling challenge.

He mentioned suffering from severe anxiety in his 20s and how he kept it under wraps. Determined to support a good cause, Jamie said: “I got asked to do this by Radio 1 and Comic Relief and I thought it would be an amazing thing to do.”
He emphasized the significance of his tough task, noting: “So many people have done it before, but also, more than that, it’s such an amazing opportunity to raise lots of money for Comic Relief, for these amazing projects that they do.”
Jamie wanted to push his limits, revealing his ambitious idea, adding: “I wanted to make it hard, I wanted to make it really hard. So I thought, ‘Oh this will be fun, why don’t I run to Manchester, where the Comic Relief show is being done on Friday night?'”
However, he admitted that he may have underestimated the difficulty of his charitable feat.
Good Morning Britain continues weekdays on ITV from 6am.
