Everton are interested in signing Jack Grealish on loan from Manchester City this summer as the foormer Aston Villa star looks for more playing time ahead of the World Cup next summer
Everton are hoping to land Jack Grealish this summer as Manchester City look to find a new home for their record signing. But should the Toffees prove successful it could lead to an awkward meeting that David Moyes will have to keep an eye on.
Grealish, 29, signed for Pep Guardiola’s side in 2021 as City paid out £100m to Aston Villa to land the England international on a six-year contract. The midfielder has scarcely hit those heights however and finds himself out of the Catalan coach’s plans at the Etihad after two indifferent seasons.
The Toffees are interested in bringing Grealish to the club on loan but that will not come cheap. City remain keen to recoup most of the star’s £300,000-a-week wages which will see any interested club having to part ways with almost £12m to secure his services.
David Moyes’ side have not been perturbed by such a commitment but Everton are content to see how the transfer window unfolds before choosing whether to action a serious bid. Grealish is training with City and could yet stay at the Etihad as the Merseyside outfit mull over whether to act upon their manager’s interest.
And perhaps there is plenty to consider with the prospect of some tension should Grealish walk through the doors of Finch Farm.

In December 2023, Grealish did not get off on the front foot with some of Everton’s stars. Things got feisty after a difficult evening up against defender Nathan Patterson.
The pair shared a frosty moment where their interaction threatened to get physical as Patterson refused to shake Grealish’s hand before giving him a shove and pointing a finger in his direction. Come full time, the City midfielder even went to air his complaints to referee John Brooks and did not shake hands Michael Keane and James Tarkowski.
The former Villa man was fuming and had to be guided towards the tunnel.
After struggling to feature for City last season, Grealish was encouraged to find a new club by England boss Thomas Tuchel, if he hopes to earn a place in the German’s World Cup squad next summer. Playing time will be crucial for the contender.
Tuchel said: “So is he a player who can be available and have an impact in our squad? Yes – 100 per cent. But lately he simply has no rhythm, and he knows that himself. I think Jack gets better and better the more minutes he plays. He has the character to be the glue in a team, it is easy for youngsters to attach to him.”
