Optical illusions aren’t just a bit of fun – proponents claim they can actually tell us a lot about our personalities and how our brains tick.

To get the most out of these mind-bending images, you’ve got to clear your head and go with your gut reaction – often answering questions like: ‘What do you see first?’

A TikTok clip by @picpsy has been challenging viewers to share whether they initially spot the head of a tiger or a hanging monkey in a particular image.

The video then delves into what your answer says about you, with the voiceover explaining: “If the first thing you see is the head of a tiger, it means your left brain hemisphere is more active than your right.”

The video suggests that those who are left-brain dominant are “very skilled at analysis, organised and goal oriented.”

It continues: “When faced with problems, you tend to remain objective, logical and precise. However, because you put a lot of thought into every decision you make, you might come across as stubborn and firm.”

It’s recommended for such individuals to “stay humble and consider other people’s opinions when making decisions.”

On the flip side, if you spot a hanging monkey first, the video indicates you’re likely to be a creative soul brimming with “innovative ideas”. It adds: “When faced with problems, you rely more on intuition than critical thinking.

“For you, the journey is more important than the destination. You are not afraid to make a misstep and learn from it. Being a natural dreamer, you often find yourself immersed in your own dreams.”

Commenting on the clip, one user said: “I’m still trying to find the tiger.” Another added: “Saw both but I saw a woman’s face and frog.”

A third remarked: “I can’t find the tiger. monkey first thing I saw.” Meanwhile, another confessed: “I saw the monkey.”

According to Very Well Mind, personality testing is about getting people to share details on their actions, tastes, emotional reactions, relationships, and motivations to figure out personality traits and patterns.

Their website states: “Personality tests can be useful for a number of reasons. These tests can help you learn more about yourself and better understand both your strengths and weaknesses.

“And while all personality tests are different, learning that you might be high on a specific trait can help you gain greater insight into your own behavioural patterns.”
