• Stefanie Pieper was a glamorous Austrian influencer with tens of thousands of social media followers who worked as a makeup artist in Graz, Styria.
• The influencer, 31, had amassed a sizeable following of nearly 50,000 people on Instagram, where she posted pictures and selfies showing off her work, and videos showcasing an impressive singing ability.
• She came home from a Christmas party on November 23 with a friend, and went into her flat after she was dropped off in a taxi before later leaving to walk her dog.
• Not long after telling her friends she was ok, police said she wrote in WhatsApp texts that there was a “creep in the stairwell” of her building who she described as a dark figure.
• Ms Pieper’s neighbours described hearing an argument in the building after seeing her ex-partner had entered. Hours later she was reported missing by her family after she failed to turn up for a photoshoot.
• Her former partner, who has been identified only as Peter M, was later arrested in Slovenia and taken into custody after he was found nearby his own burning Volkswagen Golf.
• He has been described locally as a part-time security guard and unsuccessful poker player who had an on-and-off relationship with Ms Pieper.
• Styrian Police said he had travelled to the country several times in the car, and could not be contacted by investigating police before he was found.
• Local news outlets allege that he has confessed to killing Ms Pieper, and led investigators to a Slovenian forest where her body was found stuffed into a suitcase. Two other people have since been arrested.
