Federica and Giuseppe, from Italy, were looking forward to a day of luxury at the Cala Bassa Beach Club in Ibiza – but were left stunned when they saw the final bill
An Italian couple were left flabbergasted after their beach club experience in Ibiza cost more than their flights to the Spanish island.
Federica and Giuseppe, who share their travel experiences on their My Trip to Naples (@ilmioviaggioanapoli) Instagram account, jetted off to the party hotspot in 2024 and booked sunbeds at a beach club.
The pair enjoyed a day of sipping Champagne under the sun but were shocked when they discovered that their beach club experience at Cala Bassa Beach Club, located on Sant Josep beach, had racked up a bill of a staggering €400 (£344). It comes as an Ibiza holidaymaker shared a warning after staying at popular adults-only hotel.
Their luxurious day out included a charge of €40 (£34) just for sun loungers, a hefty €160 (£137) spent on Champagne, and an additional €200 (£172) splashed out on food.
Giuseppe expressed his disbelief, saying: “Something is wrong here, because I paid more to be here for a few hours than on the flight to visit the island.”
Their video, posted on TikTok, has since attracted more than 723,000 views and 10,000 likes.
Social media users were quick to voice their opinions on the matter, with some vowing not to visit due to the exorbitant costs. One commenter wrote: “Exaggerated prices everywhere, travelling now is a luxury.”
Another chimed in: “Thanks now I know where NOT to go.”
A third added: “I had booked but left! Obscene! The sunbeds all without sun and to take a dip you have to step on 100 people!”
Some, however, thought the couple were daft for choosing a luxury beach club in the first place, given their notorious expense.
One comment read: “For those who complain, it is not compulsory to spend that money for a sunbed and umbrella, I have been to the same beach, right side with a towel on the sand.”
