CORONATION Street star Mollie Gallagher has revealed she’s landed a role in a new film – and it’s worlds away from her Corrie character Nina Lucas.
Mollie, 27, is set to appear in independent film I Like This Boy, which is being billed as a psychological thriller.
The film follows a girl called Daphne, who falls in love with a boy in her class and obsessively starts writing and drawing about him in her journal.
She convinces herself that he is the perfect boy for her but her obsession then turns into a nightmare.
Mollie recently shared images from her first day to her Instagram followers over the weekend.
Alex Mullett, writer and director of the film, said the film is “darker” than your usual romance films, adding: “Not being such a fan of lighthearted romance films it was exciting for me to make something that’s the complete opposite, cheers to something darker and well… bloodier.”

It is not yet clear what role Mollie will be playing in the film but her recent photos show her donning blonde hair and red lips, a completely different look from the goth style of her character Nina.
Mollie, who is born in Manchester, was praised for her portrayal of Nina, winning the award for Serial Drama Performance at the NTAs in 2021.
Her character was part of an intense storyline that saw her boyfriend Seb Franklin (Harry Visinoni) die after sustaining injuries in a violent attack.
Mollie previously revealed how her boyfriend Dan – who is a member of Manchester-based indie rock band Inego – supported her through tough Corrie storylines.

She told how she struggled to switch off after filming the dramatic storyline and things were made even worse as the UK was in lockdown at the time.
She told The Sun: “Obviously when the Nina and Seb storyline started we were all still in lockdown so nothing was open.
“You couldn’t go to the pub and see your friends. Luckily I live with my boyfriend so we would do little things together after work and at the weekend.”
In 2023, Mollie took part in Dancing on Ice and was partnered with Sylvain Longchambon.
They finished in joint fourth place alongside The Wanted singer Siva Kaneswaran and Klabera Komini.
