EMMA RADUCANU has pulled out of Britain’s Billie Jean King Cup double-header in Holland due to fitness concerns.
The former US Open champion is going to take a brief break from the WTA Tour this month and instead focus on her training load in the UK.
Her team say that Raducanu “loves representing Team GB in this event” but she has had a “very busy schedule so far this year”.
While there is no specified injury, they feel it is better in the long run that she takes time away from top-level tournaments to rest up and focus on a “mini training block for the next two to three weeks”.
Raducanu has been criss-crossing the globe in 2025, playing 14 matches across seven events – in Australia, Singapore, UAE (twice), Qatar and United States (twice).
Though no official return date has been provided, the decision to withdraw from up-coming competitions is not expected to impact her preparations for the French Open on Parisian clay in late May.

Next week Britain are playing hosts Holland and Germany in consecutive days as they attempt to qualify for the BJK Cup Finals in the Chinese city of Shenzhen in November.
And this surprise decision has left skipper Anne Keothavong scrambling round for alternatives as they face a crunch week in terms of key international duty.
Raducanu, 22, had a brilliant time at the Miami Open in March, reaching the quarter-finals where she lost in three sets to America’s world No.4 Jessica Pegula.
That run in Florida saw her win four games in a row for the first time in nearly four years and she has risen back into the world’s top 50.

During that fortnight, she had Mark Petchey, the Tennis Channel commentator, in her corner.
But it is not known if that was a one-off or whether they would consider future events together.
It’s understand ex-pro Petchey’s TV bosses would have no problems if he wanted to also take on a coaching role.
But for the time being, Raducanu’s search for a permanent coach goes on.
Her team say there is no update yet on her coaching arrangements.
